First, you need to be at least 15 ½ years of age. You’ll to head to your local DMV office with your certificate of completion. You’ll need to show proof of identity (birth certificate and Social Security card), and fill out the application and minor affidavit and information sheet. (You’ll need to bring your parent or legal guardian with you for this.) Then you’ll take a vision test and pass (with a score of 80% or better) a 50 question written knowledge test.
Our Nevada drivers ed course is a state-mandated 30 hours long. The information in our course is separated into 8 units, each covering a specific topic regarding driving in Nevada. A 10-question multiple-choice quiz follows each unit. To complete the course, you’ll need to pass the 50 question final exam.

Nevada Learners Permit and Drivers License Information
To apply for a permit, you must:
- Be at least 15½ years old.
- Present proof of identity (name and date of birth) and Social Security number if a number has been issued for you.
- Fill out both a driver license application and a Minor Affidavit and Information sheet (these documents can either be notarized or signed at the DMV office).
- Take our certificate of completion form with you.
- Go to the DMV office (make an appointment for faster service) to apply for your permit.
- Pay the application fee.
- Pass a vision exam (The minimum level of acceptable vision is 20/40 in one eye. If a driver must wear glasses or contact lenses to meet this standard, “Restriction A” will be placed on his license or permit.)
- Pass a written knowledge test consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions. A passing score is 80%.
- Be issued the interim license which will allow you to drive legally until you receive the actual permit in the mail, usually within 10 business days

To apply for a drivers license, you must:
- Be at least 16 if you’re applying for a full license
- Have held a Nevada instructional permit (learners permit) for at least six months
- Have an accident-free driving record
- Have a moving-violation-free driving record
- Have no substance abuse convictions
You can schedule a driving test by calling the DMV or by using our online scheduler if you prefer. Be sure you’ve met the drivers ed requirements for the behind the wheel experience and time limits and restrictions courses. If your parent or guardian is scheduling the test on your behalf, they should have your instruction permit number or Social Security number handy.

You’ll need to bring the following:
- A statement of financial responsibility
- An affidavit for licensing a minor
- A certificate of completion from drivers ed
- A Beginning Driver Experience log (form DLD-130)
- Your instruction permit
- A vehicle with registration and insurance
Your actual license will be mailed to you within 10 business days.
