The Missouri Department of Revenue handles all driver and vehicle licensing for the state of Missouri. Chances are you’ll need to use their services on a regular basis. To help you figure out the best way to get your driving needs taken care of, we’ve created this short guide.
Missouri Online DMV Services
Because (the DMV Missouri) driver and vehicle services fall under the Missouri Department of Revenue,, all of the related online services are located on one page, the Missouri DOR Online Services page. While you can only renew your drivers license in person or by mail, there are some vehicle-related services available on this page, including license plate and registration renewal.
You can also find a list of Missouri DOR Licensing Offices by visiting the Missouri Department of Revenue Office Locator page.
MO DMV Appointments
The Missouri DOR only allows you to make an appointment if you need to take the Commercial Drivers License skills test. To do that, you’ll need to contact your local Missouri DOR Licensing Office for more information. A link to a list of those offices can be found in the preceding section.
Missouri Driving and Vehicle Forms and Applications
You’ll be able to shorten the time you spend at a Missouri DOR office by having your paperwork completed ahead of time. There are two separate pages for driver and vehicle forms. The first is the Missouri DOR Motor Vehicle forms page; the second is the Missouri DOR Driver License Forms and Manuals page.
Your Missouri Driving Record and the Missouri Driving Points System
Like many states, Missouri uses a point system to monitor individuals’ driving records. When you commit a moving violation, you’re assigned a certain number of points depending on the severity of the violation. Missouri does allow drivers to complete a defensive driving or “traffic school” course to remove points from your record. You are only allowed to take such a course every three years – so it’s important to be a safe driver! You can find out how many points you have on your driving record by simply calling (573) 526-2407. If you’d like to order a copy of your driving record, you may do so either in person or by mail from the Missouri Department of Revenue. For more information, please visit the Missouri DOR Driving Record webpage.
