Unlike many states, Mississippi does not have a dedicated department of motor vehicles. Driver and vehicle services are shared between the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (drivers licenses and permits) and the Mississippi State Tax Commission (vehicle title and registrations).
Mississippi Online Motor Vehicle Services
You can take care of some of your drivers license issues by visiting the Mississippi Department of Public Safety homepage. Here you can renew your license online or find the nearest Mississippi DPS office location. For information regarding the nearest county tax collector’s office – where you will need to go to pay your vehicle registration or get a copy of the title – you’ll need to call (601) 923-7143.
Mississippi DMV Appointments
The only service that you can schedule an appointment for is the Mississippi Commercial Drivers License road skills test. You can do that by visiting the Mississippi CDL Appointment Page.
MS DPS Forms and Applications
Although you can’t make an appointment for most Mississippi DMV driver services, you’ll be able to save yourself some time if you download and complete the paperwork you’ll need beforehand. The most often used forms can be found at the Mississippi DPS Forms and Applications page.
