The Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services department is responsible for driver and vehicle regulation in Minnesota. Sometimes referred to as the DMV, the Minnesota DVS offers a number of services that you’ll no doubt need to utilize at some point. Here’s some information that will help you have a smooth Minnesota DVS experience.
Minnesota DVS Online Services
Before you think about heading to a Minnesota DVS office, it’s a good idea to first check the DVS Online Services page. The Minnesota DVS offers a number of the most utilized services online, so you may be able to save yourself a long wait in line. Online services offered include license and vehicle registration renewal, change of address, and even the ability to look up the value of your vehicle in case you’re thinking about selling it!
Minnesota DVS Forms, Documents and Manuals
One way to save yourself some time if you need to go to a DVS office: have your forms filled out when you get there. The Minnesota DVS lets you download just about every form you’ll need on their DVS Forms page. You can also download various drivers’ manuals as well.
Minnesota DVS Appointments
Unfortunately, you can only schedule an appointment at the DVS for your drivers license, motorcycle license or Commercial Drivers License road skills test. To do that, visit the Minnesota Road Test Scheduling page. Again, be sure to check the DVS Online Services page before you head to a DVS office. If you do need to visit the DVS in person, it’s a good idea to go during off-peak times: mid-week, before or after the noon hour. It’s often busiest during the beginning and end of each month.
MN DVS Office Locations
The Minnesota DVS Office Locations page is especially helpful in that it enables you to find local offices based on the services they offer. Office closures are posted on the page as well. There are also separate tabs that allow you to find local drivers education classes.
