Arizona Drivers License Appointments
A simple trip to the Arizona MVD can easily turn into a long ordeal if you go during peak hours. That’s why it’s a good idea to plan your trips for when it is statistically less likely to be crowded. However, depending on your schedule, that may not always be possible. While it would be convenient to be able to schedule an appointment in advance, unfortunately, Arizona DMV appointments are rare, with only a few services they offer having appointments available
Scheduling a Road Test in Arizona
The only service for which the Arizona MVD will allow people to book an appointment is a driver’s license road test. All other services, including registrations and address changes, must be done on a first-come-first-serve basis. For road tests, you must schedule an Arizona DMV appointment by phone to ensure that they can accommodate your test. You can find the number of your nearest branch on the MVD Hours and Locations page. You will be presented with a few upcoming available timeslots, so pick the one which best suits your availability. Not all branches perform road tests, so be sure to choose a branch which offers full services.
Arizona MVD Online Services
Fortunately, Arizona offers most of its services online, so you don’t even need to go in person to a branch most of the time. All of the following services can be performed any time on the MVD website from the comfort of your own home:
- Request a copy of your drivers license
- Renew your vehicle registration
- Perform a registration check
- Order a copy of your vehicle registration
- Change your official address
- Reinstate a suspended license
- Order a motor vehicle or driving record
Using these online services will save you the trouble of a physical trip to the MVD, but remember that not everything can be done online. You will still have to visit a physical branch for some important tasks like applying for a driver’s license or permit, or the initial registration or titling of your vehicle. But there are still ways to save time on an in-person trip.
Visiting the MVD During Non-Peak Hours
A lot of time can be saved just by going to the MVD at the right time. The busiest times at most MVD branches tend to be:
- The beginning or end of the week, Monday or Friday.
- The beginning of end of the month.
- Right before or after holidays where the MVD is closed.
- During the lunch hour, around noon.
To help mitigate the time spent at the MVD, be sure to go there during these times:
- The middle of the week, Tuesday to Thursday.
- The middle of the month.
- Before or after the lunch rush.
- Immediately upon opening.
By following these basic tips, you can make any trip to the MVD more manageable and less stressful.
