There are approximately 40 driver test questions on the written exam, and test takers must get a score of 70% or higher to pass. Taking practice tests can help improve your results and increase your chances of passing the real test. You can practice taking tests online, but be aware that each state has slightly different traffic laws, so take practice tests specific to your state. Note though that many questions on the various state tests are very similar.
The answers to all of the questions on the written test are covered in the Driver’s Handbook issued in each state. These free booklets are available at any Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office and can also be downloaded from the Internet.
