1. Appear at or contact your court and request permission to dismiss your ticket with a defensive driving course.
Not all courts offer this option, so make sure you contact yours by the date specified on your citation, and confirm their approval of a driver improvement course for ticket dismissal. Participation will hinge upon your past driving history, the severity of your violation, and any defensive driving courses you may have already taken.You must meet the following general eligibility requirements:

- You must have been cited for a minor, non-criminal moving violation
- You must hold a valid, non-commercial Louisiana driver’s license
2. Enroll in and complete your I Drive Safely Louisiana Defensive Driving course.
If your court gives you a deadline by which you must submit your course completion, make sure you enroll in and finish your course in enough time for us to send your completion certificate before your due date.
3. Submit your certificate of completion to the court.
